Last Friday we met the people behind SubmarineChannel which was a nice and interesting day inside the world of this nice blog and their huge collection of online visual art and their own pile of amazing projects. We met them at their headquarters in Amsterdam. Talked about the world of online art and how to fight for funding for these new projects with the old fashioned funding rules. After that we took the dive all the way to Eindhoven where they had a night full of film sequences with their exhibition Forget the Film Watch the Titles at Mu and lectures with 3 amazing designers.
Here are some stills. I’ll start editing as soon as possible so within a few weeks we’ll have a new and fresh Blocter video.

So I’m back from 2 brilliant weeks in the land of the rising sun. It was really amazing but not as weird as I thought it would be.
In the First week I met up with the people behind Midori-San in the nice town of Kamakura. This town is a must to visit if you go to Japan. Only one hour from Tokyo.
It was really nice to meet Koujiro Seo and talk about his amazing project.
Do it might take a while before this edit is finished since we did it in Japanese. So I still have to figure out how to do the editing.

But we’re shooting a new one as we speak. Today we’re meeting the people behind SubmarineChannel. We will talk about their blog and all their other online projects. Next to that they’ll take us to the MU in Eindhoven where they have an exhibition at the moment on one of their projects Forget the Film Watch the Titles.
So this one will be the first new Blocter video in months. Next week I’ll tell you all about how the shoot was and show you all some nice stills.

At this right moment my plane is taking of to my new destination for the next to weeks. I’ll be visiting my brother in Japan.
But it’s not only holiday time. In two day’s I’ll be meeting up with Koujiro Seo, one of the people behind Midori-San which is one of the most amazing blogs around these days. A blogging plant.

The system, to post Midori-san’s thoughts online, uses surface potential sensors to read the weak bioelectric current flowing across the surface of the leaves.

So actually I’ll be doing an interview with a plant. Quite interesting.

I didn’t scheduled any other blogposts so don’t expect any new posts within the next two weeks. But who knows…

I like it when twitter is used beyond it’s main use of sharing what your doing. Twitter is a great tool to collaborate and start projects.
One of the projects I’ve been following recently is DoodleDonderdag (Doodle Thursday). Bart Aalbers started this project a few weeks ago to connect the illustrators around twitter more. And its working out quite well.
More and more folks started to share their doodling on twitter. Today I even saw Nozzman a well known Dutch cartoonist joining. See all the doodles over here

So yesterday we had Where is Gary? Today it’s the hunt on an iPhone Thief.
How to Catch an iPhone Thief is a blog by Mr Sam who’s iPhone got stolen by a guy on the plane. This one’s a bit more scarier than I expected. The guy who lost his iPhone starts a hunt by using the internet and finds so much information on the thief, his friends and family that he hunts him down and in the end gets his iPhone back.

A few weeks back I watched the fast journal on the Dutch TV where they showed the blog Where is Gary?
Where is Gary? is an interactive documentary blog by Jean Baptiste on a scammer who’s active in Europe. He got scammed by Gary in Hungary and started wondering who this Gary is. So he started this Documentary blog which, in the end, will feature 20 video episodes on his search for Gary. To track, not hunt, him down and figure out who this person is, why he does it and who his victims are.
Interesting project with a new view on the power of blogs.

Damn I’m drooling. Fontanel just launched their new website a few minutes ago and it’s amazingly good.
Last week I posted about the launch and the sneak preview the guys gave us to give an idea of what it was going to look like. But it’s beyond my expectations.
The website is fresh and clearly shows the main things they focus on. Inspiration for the short and fast blogposts. Specials for the interviews and longer articles and the Agenda full of nice design related events.
The post in itself look clean as well. They got rid of all the sidebars you see on all websites (just moved it to the bottom) and now all the focus is on the article. Next to that they are using a nice wide lay out which gives them the opportunity to post real big embedded videos. Lovely!

Trough Swurdin I came across this nice video on fashionblogs. It’s an interview with Suzy Menkes the head fashion reporter and Editor for the International Herald Tribune who’s explaining the power of fashionblogs. How blogs change the view on fashion and how blogs make the public opinion on fashion more powerful.
Next to the interview with Suzy Menkes they interviewed Yvan Rodic from Facehunter, Jennie Tamm from The Coveted and Julia Knolle and Jessie Weiss from LesMads in an interesting way. Since they probably weren’t able to visit the bloggers they interviewd them with a webcam and placed the video’s in the blogs.

My friends over at one of Dutch finest design blogs Fontanel are still working their asses of for their new layout which they will be launching next Monday!
To give us a little idea on what it’s going to look like they just put a series of sneak preview screenshots online. They started in September 2008 and are finally finishing of the last bits before the launch on Monday. I’m dead curious since these screenshot look real promising.
